I am a homeschooling mother of four. My life really began changing when we started hiking seriously about 5 years ago. I discovered that nothing made me feel better than a long, strenuous day out in nature. I also realized that I wanted my kids to have that attachment to the real world that comes from really knowing how this earth works, and what it looks like. Then, about a year and a half ago, I began running. What began as a “get in shape for backpacking” exercise became a real obsession. Now, I get my outdoors fix by running 5 or 6 days a week. I don’t get quite the same high as I get from a great hike, but I get it more often. Our current life improvement goal is vegetarianism. We are 80 percent vegetarian right now, and working on a real foods, unprocessed diet. This blog chronicles our adventures as we draw closer to nature and each other.
